A gourd, and some backstory

This gourd was made possible by my sister, Jenn.

In fact, Jenn has a long history of making vegetables possible. As kids, while she was busy digging irrigation trenches for tomatoes, the flowers under my care in the adjacent garden would be dead within the hour.

Years later, when she and her husband moved into their house, Jenn set herself to churning up a patch of soil for a garden plot before the first box was hauled out of the truck.

Now, true to form, Jenn runs the garden club at the school where she teaches math to legions of 12-year-olds who are no doubt cutting their home-grown carrots into fractions at the dinner table.
