Post NYSCBWI Musings

January 30, 2012

Back from another inspiring/exhausting weekend at the SCBWI New York conference, and feeling motivated. I spent the bus ride home jotting down pages of ideas for personal projects; maybe about two weeks of late nighters will do the trick for getting some client work out the door, then to work on my new picture book idea (scintillating details to come…). Nothing like advice from the pros and encouragement from peers to get on the right, focused track for 2012.

Some of the highlights, SCBWI-related and otherwise:

Arrival at the Hyatt. Guess who in this line has a party to get to.

What's a conference without some wise words from the Fonz?

Trip to the Met, aka the day I fell in love with...

...Erté.

Thanks to my wonderful friends for opening their doors and pulling out the futons during my stay.

Until next year!

Tomie dePaola Entry

December 15, 2011

Well, here it is! Looks like there’s some pretty stiff competition out there (as usual) for this year’s Tomie dePaola Award.

May the best bird win!

Chicken Licken (phase 2)!

Further along on my entry for the Tomie dePaola Illustrator Award. Two more days before this bunch flaps its way over to the submission pile.
